The warmth and depth of this recorder's tone allow it to converse with the traverso or even to replace it in its own repertory.

 

As reliable as the alto on "two octaves + one note", it allows the interpretation of J.S. Bach's patitas for traverso in its original tonality.

 

Hoteterre's suites gain their whole meaning when played on these recorders.

 

The original copied here is Denner's kept at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg.
