Alto Bassano

In order to re-create this model of pre-baroque recorder, I got my inspiration from originals kept in Vienna's museum.
This type of instrument with a slight conical bore seems to have been widespread throughout the 17th C. These recorders have a two-octave compass plus one note with baroque fingerings. Those fingerings were actually presented by Philibert Jambe de Fer in his "Epitome Musical" (1556) and Marin Mersenne in his "Harmonie Universelle" (1636). The Bassano's were a four-generation dynasty of instrument makers and musicians.

Wood used : Boxwood (natural or stained) or maple.

Pitch : 415 Hz or 440 Hz.
